Rod Hanna has been a professional photographer for over 58 years. After twelve years as a photojournalist and sports photographer in the Midwest, he began a 25-year career as a marketing executive for the Steamboat Ski Resort in Colorado, retiring in 2000. During his ski industry career, Rod continued being active as a photographer, ultimately turning his interest to nature landscapes and fine art photography.

Over the past 25 years, Rod has been honing his artistic skills and directing his images toward making archival fine art prints. His images start as digital photographs, are imported into a Macintosh computer for fine tuning, and finally rendered on 100% rag paper or canvas with pigment inks on a 1400 dpi high-quality Epson digital printer. From a distance, the resulting print retains the essence of the original photograph but up close more resembles the look and feel of a photo-realism painting. His nature landscape work has appeared in numerous art shows and exhibitions, including an individual 50-year Retrospective at the Steamboat Art Museum in 2012.

Artist's Statement:
“When is a photograph more than a photograph? When it has been transformed into something even more graphically compelling and beautiful, and when it has the properties of a fine art print. The finished prints not only have a superior richness and archival quality, but also provide me with the flexibility to make a stronger visual statement."
